The Chairmen of 14 out of the 18 registered political parties in Delta State have endorsed the Chairman of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) Prince Henry Eze, as their concensus candidate for the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) chairmanship position in the November 9 election of the body.

A delegation of the party chairmen, which visited the Senior Special Assistant to Governor  Ifeanyi Okowa on Inter Party Relations, Chief Efe Tobor on Thursday in Asaba, presented the endorsed document to him.

Prince Eze, who led the delegation, said it was an affirmation of unity and oneness of purpose among the party chairmen who were desirous to have an effective and responsive leadership of IPAC in Delta.

The State APM Chairman regretted that IPAC had in the past failed to make the desired impact in the state and assured the SSA on Inter Party Relations that the position of the 14 party chairmen, whom he described as a New Era team, was in the best interest of registered political parties in the state.

Responding, the SSA, Chief Efe Tobor, commended the party chairmen for speaking in one voice, pointing out that his office would convey their decision to the appropriate quarters for record purposes.

Chief Tobor said IPAC had provided a veritable platform for the evaluation of government policies and programmes, adding that criticism should be constructive and not antagonistic if it must yield the desired results.

He assured the party chairmen of the commitment of the Okowa administration to delivering good governance and urged them to put their houses in order to make them relevant to the polity.
