Pursuant to its inclusivity policy, the Delta State Government has reached out to non-indigenous widows in the state with bags of rice.

Those of them in Asaba had the rice gift presented to them on Thursday by the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Non Indigenes Affairs, Barr. Emeka Ebiliekwe.

He said Governor Sheriff Obborevwori specifically instructed that all the widows in the state, including non indigenes, should benefit from the gesture, in reflection of his love for them.

The EA noted that the Oborevwori administration was already implementing a widow’s welfare scheme, which entitled 10,000 of them to ₦15,000 monthly stipend, in addition to free healthcare through the state’s Contributory Health Scheme.

Barr. Ebiliekwe urged the widows to always remember the Governor in their prayers and remain supportive of his administration so that their well-being and welfare could be sustained.
He used the opportunity to call on the beneficiaries and indeed all the non indigenes in Delta State to avail themselves of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise, emphasizing that those who had attained the age of 18, those who had lost their PVCs or needed to update their records, must register to be able to exercise their civic responsibility.

The EA especially stressed that all hands must be on deck in the mobilization of support for the re-election of the Governor come 2027, insisting that the non indigenes had a great role to play in that regard if they must continue to enjoy the goodwill and hospitality of the Delta State Government under Governor Sheriff Obborevwori.

In an interview with Journalists, some of the beneficiaries thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for extending government’s goodwill to them and pledged support for his re-election bid to enable him consolidate his good works.
