Delta State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has congratulated two of his constituents on their elevation as Judges of the Delta State High Court.
They are Justice Jereoma Sam-Oligida and Justice Irene Boeye Ukuli, who In a momentous ceremony at the Unity Hall of Government House Asaba, were among the six sworn in by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
They took their oaths of office, pledging to uphold justice and serve the people of Delta State with integrity and impartiality.
In a congratulatory message, Rt Hon Guwor hailed the appointments, saying, “I am proud of my constituents’ elevation to the esteemed position of High Court Judge.
The Speaker, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Nkem Nwaeke, said Justices Sam-Oligida and Ukuli’s dedication to justice and public service spoke volumes of their character and expertise and commended them for being worthy constituents.
He charged the new Judges to remain committed to fairness, equity, and the rule of law, saying, “Your new role is a sacred trust. Uphold the dignity of the Judiciary and serve as beacons of hope for the people”.
The Speaker further described their elevation to the Bench as well-deserved and historic, noting that their appointment was not only a personal achievement, but also an immense pride to Delta State.
“The new Judges have distinguished themselves over the years through unwavering commitment to the rule of law, professional excellence, and impeccable integrity, qualities that earned them the confidence of the appointing authorities and the admiration of the legal community.
“Their elevation to the Bench is no doubt a testament to years of hard work, intellectual depth, and a steadfast devotion to justice. It reaffirms the belief that merit, character, and diligence will always find expression at the highest levels of public service”, the Speaker stated.
Guwor charged the newly sworn-in Judges to see their appointment as a call to greater service to humanity, urging them to dispense justice without fear or favour and uphold the sanctity of the Constitution.
He expressed confidence that their tenure on the Bench would further strengthen the Judiciary, deepen public confidence in the justice system, and contribute meaningfully to peace, equity, and good governance in Delta State.
The Speaker wished the Lordships divine wisdom, sound health, and enduring courage in their tour of duty, assuring them of the prayers and goodwill of the State Assembly.
