A prominent Muslim leader in Delta State and Obi of Oflyagba community, Anwai, Asaba, Barr. Nduka Mohammed Elunor, has called on Muslims in the south south and south east geopolitical zones to popularize their religion by showcasing it wherever they find themselves.

Obi Elunor made the call on Saturday at his residence while speaking shortly after receiving an award of appreciation from the Muslim Corpers Association of Nigeria, Delta chapter.

He said unlike the north and south west where Islamic religion was popular, its peculiarity in the south south and south east called for concerted efforts by faithful to showcase the uniqueness of the religion, adding that the introduction of Islamic education could also help to raise the level of consciousness of the religion in parts of the country other than the north and south west.

The community leader, who identified embracing Islam as the best decision he had ever made, wondered what would have become of his behavioural pattern and lifestyle if he was not a Muslim.

He reminded the Corpers that their stay in Delta won’t be long and advised them to take advantage of every available opportunity in view of the uncertainty that lay ahead of them after their service year.


Obi Elunor thanked the Muslim Corpers for appreciating his modest contributions to the growth of Islam in Delta State and pledged continued support for the group.

Speaking in an interview with newsnen, the President of the Muslim Corpers Association of Nigeria, Delta State chapter, Abdulhakeem Binhambali, said the award ceremony was part of the group’s bi-annual convention which took place in Asaba.

Binhambali, who is also the south south zonal leader of MCAN, stated that Obi Elunor earned the group’s award for his immense support for the Muslim community in Delta State in general and the group in particular.

Present on the occasion were the Chairman,. NASFAT, Warri branch, Alhaji Mutiu Odekunle; Oshimili South Local Governnent inspector of the NYSC and matron of MCAN, Solagberu Nimat Jumoke; a patron of the group, Habeeb Lawal, a Barrister-at-Law, among others.
