The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has described Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as a leader redefining excellence in governance, following his recognition at the 18th Leadership Annual Conference and Awards held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, on Thursday.

Speaking at the event, Aniagwu gave glory to God for what he described as outstanding leadership qualities bestowed on Governor Oborevwori, noting that each public appearance by the Governor came with inspiring direction and renewed hope for the people.

“First of all, I give God the glory for being wonderful to our leader, a man who has come to redefine excellence. Each time he steps out, he brings something that warms the hearts of the people and provides positive direction”, Aniagwu said.

The Commissioner stated that the national recognition of the Governor’s performance was a source of pride, emphasizing that the administration’s achievements in Delta State wwre being acknowledged far beyond the state’s borders.

“For what we are doing in Delta to be so recognized nationally is something we take pride in. I feel very happy being associated with him. The fact that credible organizations are recognizing that the Governor is doing wonders is quite welcoming”, he added.

Aniagwu noted that while the state government never lobbied for awards, some recognitions could not be ignored due to the pedigree and credibility of the awarding bodies.

“As someone at the center of advancing His Excellency’s engagements, there are times we are cautious so that people do not think we are chasing awards. But there are awards we cannot resist because of the standing of those conferring them”, he explained.

He stressed that Governor Oborevwori’s primary focus remained adding value to the lives of Deltans, a commitment he said had naturally attracted a wave of honours from reputable national media organisations and institutions.

“His business is to add value to the lives of Deltans. Today, many people across the country are saying that so much is happening in Delta. That is why you are seeing a plethora of awards coming from left to right. We are happy about this particular award and we will not take it for granted” , Aniagwu stated.

The Commissioner also referenced other recent recognitions, recalling that notable media organizations such as Vanguard, New Telegraph, Silverbird, Arise Television and others had acknowledged the milestones recorded by the Oborevwori administration.

He specifically highlighted the New Telegraph’s latest recognition of the Governor as the number one Governor in terms of performance, describing it as a significant endorsement.

“The fact that the New Telegraph is once again recognizing him as the number one Governor in terms of performance speaks volumes. It is like a pat on the back, showing that credible outfits are monitoring what is happening in Delta”, Aniagwu said.

According to him, such recognitions validate the administration’s claims of progress and dispel any notion that commendations are self-serving.

“When we say the Governor is performing, nobody can dismiss it as mere loyalty from staff or associates. These recognitions are coming from outside Delta, from Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, Kaduna and other parts of the country. It shows that we are not alone in acknowledging the progress being made”, he noted.

Aniagwu further commended the Governor’s prudent resource management, stressing that the administration’s achievements had been accomplished without incurring unnecessary financial burdens.

“We appreciate the fact that the government is achieving these exploits without having to put up a dime from anywhere. That speaks to its ability to manage resources effectively, which is why not long ago the Governor declared that Delta is financially stable and sovereign. You know what that means at a time like this”, he said.

He concluded by reaffirming the administration’s commitment to sustainable development and responsible governance.

“We give God the glory and appreciate our Governor for leading us in the right direction”, Aniagwu added.
