Leaders at all levels have again been reminded of the need to let their legacies speak for them in and out of office.

His Royal Majesty, Asagba Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON, the 14th Asagba of Asaba, made the call when the State Comptroller, Nigeria Immigration Service, Delta State Command, Mrs Agbi Victoria Uyoyou, paid him a courtesy visit.

The Asagba said the essence of holding an office was not to glamorise the title attached, but to render service for which one would be remembered long after leaving the stage

He reiterated that every leader must strive for the kindness of history, so that those coming after should be able to make references to the relationships they built, the individuals they mentored and the lives they touched while in office.

The First Class King challenged the State Comptroller to consolidate the achievements of her predecessors and work hard to break new grounds, insisting that she must show leadership and be dedicated to her duties, while ensuring discipline and professionalism among the officers and men of the Command.

Asagba Prof Azinge said: “May be your testimonial here will be something that will ultimately catarpolt you to a higher office. So, you have work to do. Asaba people will be supportive; I will also be supportive. Our prayer is that the gods of our land will bless you as you continue your work on our soil and in the rest of Delta. Nothing untoward will happen to you and all your staff members”.

Earlier, CIS Uyoyou said the visit was to reaffirm their respect for the throne and commitment to strengthening collaboration between the palace and the Command.

She acknowledged the peace and security initiatives of the Asagba and pledged the support of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Delta State Command towards ensuring greater safety in Asaba and the state at large.
