Oborevwori Commissions Federal Health Facility in Warri, Promises Conducive Functioning Environment

The 80-bed state-of-the-art Renewed Hope Mother and Child Specialist Hospital, Ugbunwangwe, Warri, has been described as a powerful testament to the Federal Government’s relentless commitment to improving access to quality healthcare across the country.

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, at the official commissioning of the factory on Tuesday, noted that it was not only a physical structure, but a beacon of hope and a significant step towards achieving health – related sustainable development goals.

The Governor, who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Hon Prince Johnson Erijo, said the hospital, with residential accommodation for medical personnel, would serve the health needs of the Ugbunwangwe community and Warri as a whole.

He stated that the official unveiling of the hospital represented a renewal of his administration’s promise to advance the quality of life of al Deltans, just as it seamlessly aligned the M.O.R.E. agenda of the state government.

Governor Oborevwori thanked the Federal Government and particularly the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), for the transformative project and assured that the state government would help to ensure a conducive functioning environment for the health institution.

The Governor expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the realization of the vision and commended the people of Ugbunwangwe, Warri, for their support and patience during the construction process, even as he emphasized that the hospital belonged to them and should be protected and responsible utilized.

In her remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, said the hospital, which was built in 2024, was to make quality healthcare services easily accessible to the people of Ugbunwangwe, Warri, and the environs, and thanked the Olu of Warri, Ugiame Atuwatse 111 for facilitating the project.

In his remarks, the Acting Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, Dr Ekeneam Omo, said the Ugbunwangwe facility, built by the Federal Government for maternal and child health, commenced clinical services in June last year, disclosing, however, that provision has been made for the management of all other health conditions through a seamless referral system with the Asaba hospital.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro, said the hospital was a tangible testament to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which would help to reduce maternal and child mortality rate in its catchment area.

Present at the commissioning were the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Joseph Onojoame, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse 111, among other dignitaries.
