Odesola Clocks 60, Bows Out as Comptroller of Immigration Service, CIS

The Comptroller of Immigration Service(CIS), Delta State Command, O. O. Odesola, has turned 60, following which he has taken a bow after putting in 34 years of service.

The officers and men of the State Command organized a birthday/retirement ceremony in his honour in Asaba, which attracted high ranking Immigration Officers from across the country, Service Chiefs of some sister organizations, family members, friends and well wishers.

In his opening remarks, Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration, ACGI, Edirin Okoto, who was Special Guest of Honor, thanked God for the life of retired CIS Odesola, whom he said meritoriously served the country and would be remembered for his impressive showing as State Comptroller of Immigration in Delta State.

ACGI Okoto noted that the array of personalities present at the ceremony was a testament to the cordial relationship and friendship built by the retired Immigration helmsman and encouraged those still in service to emulate his leadership qualities.

He congratulated Odesola on his 60th birthday and successful retirement and urged men to watch their lifestyle in order to age gracefully, stressing that it mattered a lot to retire strong and healthy to be able to cope with the challenges of life after service.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Second-in-Command (2-iC) Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, ACI J. C. Adiele, noted that Odesola was a dedicated Comptroller, who gave his best and left behind legacies of hard work, discipline and team spirit.

Adiele added that Odesola’s 34 years in the Immigration Service was a smooth journey, pointing out that he served in different capacities without blemish and was loved by many, hence the gathering of colleagues, captains of industry, friends and well wishers to honor and celebrate him.

Different speakers, in their goodwill messages, congratulated the ex-State Comptroller of Immigration on his enviable track record in service and wished him well in his future endeavors.

Responding, CIS Odesola thanked all who came to celebrate him, saying that he was overwhelmed with joy and felt highly honored by the turn out of people from all walks of life at the event.

The highlights of the ceremony were the cutting of the birthday and retirement cakes, presentation of a plaque and gifts to the celebrant.

The retirement ceremony was preceded by a parade held on 31st August, 2025, at the Command headquarters.

It started with the inspection of the quoter guard mounted by officers of the Command, followed by the review of the parade and taking of salute.

CIS Odesola later addressed the officers and men of the command, and commissioned the kemi Nanna nandap health center built by the immigration officers wives association IMMOWA Delta state chapter under the leadership of Mrs Christie Angel Odesola,
