Delta State Government has reiterated its commitment to transforming the state through strategic investment in the education sector in line with the MORE agenda of the Oborevwori administration.

The Chairman, Steering Committee for the state’s hosting of the 84th Joint Consultative Committee on Education (JCCE) Plenary Meeting, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, stated this at a press briefing ahead of the event slated to hold from August 4 – 7, 2025, in Asaba.

Dr. Ashibogwu, who is the State Commissioner for Primary Education, said the provision of functional, qualitative and affordable education was cardinal to the state government, to ensure that every leaner benefitted irrespective of geographical locations.

This, he is explained, was aimed at fostering a conducive teaching and learning environment through the prioritization and provision of quality facilities in public schools, curriculum development and reforms, promotion of the reading culture amongst learners, inclusive educational policies to cater for the needs of special learners, skills and vocational – focused education system, amongst others.

The Steering Committee Chairman said the four Ministries of Education in the state were charged with the responsibilities of formulating, supervising and implementing educational policies and programmes at the primary, secondary, technical and tertiary levels, culminating to a robust education coverage by the state government.

While commending Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for approving the hosting of the JCCE Plenary Meeting, Dr. Ashibogwu pointed out that the press briefing was to enlighten the public on the upcoming event, which would refine and recommend memoranda to the National Council on Education for further consideration and approvals that would translate to policy decisions on education in the country.

He said critical stakeholders that would be attending the JCCE meeting included the academia, technocrats, representatives of security agencies, special needs institutions, education parastatals, Non Governmental Organizations, International Development Partners, amongst others.
