Federal establishments in Asaba have been assured of the support and cooperation of the community to enable them deliver on their mandates.

The Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Asagba Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON, gave the assurance on Tuesday in his palace when the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Salako, visited him with the management team of the Federal Medical Center, Asaba.

The traditional ruler said while the community was desirous to have more federal institutions, it would continue to ensure that the existing ones operated maximally to be able to effectively serve the needs of the people.

Asagba Prof Azinge noted that the Federal Medical Center had witnessed tremendous transformation over the years, making it the choice of many in Asaba and the environs for their healthcare needs and urged the Minister to seek ways of addressing the challenges of the hospital.

He promised to look into the issue of unlawful intrusion to the hospital’s land, which had made further expansion difficult and at the same time announced the willingness of the community to make land available elsewhere for an annex of the health institution.

The Asagba commended the health workers of the facility for not being in a hurry to jet out of the country in search of greener pastures, urging them to remain dedicated to their duties to save lives and make the hospital one of the best around.

Earlier, the visiting Minister, Dr. Iziaq Salako, said the visit was to congratulate the Asagba on his ascension to the throne and to receive royal blessings.

Dr. Salako revealed that he used the opportunity of his visit to Asaba to inspect facilities in the hospital, pointing out that he had noted the challenges of the institution and would take steps to address them.

He appealed to Asagba Prof Azinge to intervene in the encroachment of the hospital’s land, which had robbed it of space for expansion.
