15 more SS-3 students of Asaba origin have been captured in the WAEC scholarship scheme of Tony Ndah Foundation, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 120.

The addition was in honour of the request of the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON; during last Saturday’s awards, that students of private schools, especially Saint Patrick’s College (SPC) and Anglican Girls’ Grammar School (AGGS), be accommodated in the programme.

The 15 additional beneficiaries were drawn from SPC, AGGS, ICE and Madonna College.

Speaking on the occasion, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Ogbueshi Tony Ndah; represented by Christabel Ndah, said the event was not just a celebration of achievement, but a dream taking flight, stressing that the Foundation believed that supporting education was the best way to invest in the future of the youths.

Tony Ndah added that it was his modest way of encouraging the beneficiaries to focus on and pursue their education by taking the burden of WAEC enrolment off the shoulders of their parents/guardians.

He congratulated the beneficiaries and charged them to prepare well for their examinations, so that they could take their education further and become the mentors and donors of the next generation.

In her remarks, the Team Leader of the Foundation, Mrs Helen Dunkwu; noted that education was key to any life endeavour, stressing that no individual could succeed in public or private life without education.

Mrs Dunkwu, who praised the students for their ambitious spirit, charged them to take advantage of the opportunity offered them by the Foundation to prepare well for their WAEC examinations, insisting that they should avoid distractions and focus on their studies if they must come out in flying colours.

She explained that the scheme was basically to see the beneficiaries through their WAEC examinations, pointing out that upon gaining University admissions, the Foundation would float a follow up scholarship scheme for the successful candidates.

Also speaking, the President, 1994 Set of SPC Students, Mr. Anthony Chukwuemeka Ifebuilo; thanked the donor, Ogbueshi Tony Ndah; for his philanthropic efforts, describing him as a man who attained greatness by dint of hard work, and urging the beneficiaries to imbibe the same virtue to be able to succeed in life.

The event featured a lecture on “Social Vices and their Menace” by Pastor Brenda Ify Okolie, Salvation Call by Rev Ossy Nwanze, a Vote of Thanks by Ogbueshi Fidelis Ndah, while the highlight was the presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries.
