Nnamdi Ezechi Plays Host to NNU Executive, Promises More Impactful Representation of Ndokwa Nation

The executive of the apex sociocultural organization of the Ndokwa ethnic nationality, the Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU), Wednesday, paid a courtesy visit to one of their own and member representing the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon Nnamdi Ezechi, in his Abuja office.

During the engagement, the NNU executive, led by the President General, Comrade Chief Amechi Asugwuni, highlighted key issues affecting the Ndokwa nation, including the urgent need for a review of the DESOPADEC oil quantum, the limited presence of NDDC projects across Ndokwa communities, and the lingering absence of electricity in several areas of the Constituency. 

The delegation also underscored the urgent need for a direct engagement with the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, to ensure the speedy completion of the power projects and associated transmission infrastructure.

Responding, Hon. Ezechi reaffirmed his firm commitment to the advancement of Ndokwa nation and the continued pursuit of equitable development for all parts of the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency. 

He lauded the NNU executive for their proactive approach and timely visit, describing their engagement with political office holders as a demonstration of leadership, and unity of purpose in championing the collective aspirations of the Ndokwa people.

The Federal Lawmaker assured the delegation that he was already engaging with the Governor on the long-standing oil quantum issue, while efforts had been intensified through the House Committee on NDDC, to ensure fair inclusion of Ndokwa nation in the Commission’s project implementation framework. 

He expressed optimism that, with Mr. Chiedu Ebie as the Chairman of the NDDC Board, greater attention would be given to the Ndokwa area.

On the power sector, Hon. Ezechi reiterated that the stalled Okpai IPP Phase 2 Power Project, along with the 132KV double circuit transmission line and substations in Okpai and Kwale, were receiving renewed attention through his sustained engagements with the relevant stakeholders in the Ministry of Power and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), with a view to proffering  lasting solutions to the lingering power shortage in parts of Ndokwa land. 

He congratulated the NNU executive on their emergence, urging them to continue to foster unity, peace, and the preservation of Ndokwa’s rich cultural heritage. 

Hon. Ezechi also reaffirmed his resolve to empower youths and women across the Ndokwa nation through skill acquisition programmes and empowerment initiatives, ensuring inclusive growth and equitable distribution of Constituency benefits.

The Lawmaker also expressed his deep appreciation to the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and the former Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for their unwavering support and ceaseless efforts towards the development of Ndokwa land. 

He particularly commended the close working relationship between the Governor and Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, noting that their synergy had yielded tangible and meaningful dividends for the Ndokwa people across key sectors, including power, education, and infrastructure.
