Activities lined up for the 1st coronation anniversary of the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON, continued on Saturday with a 5km-fitness walk.
The exercise, which was led by the King himself, joined by some Obis, Olinzeles, Ogbueshis, civil servants and a cross section of the Asaba community, started from the Stephen Keshi Stadium to Kainebisi (traffic light) roundabout and back to the Stadium.
Addressing the participants at the end of the exhausting trek, the Asagba said he was highly elated with the success of the exercise, describing the turn out as quite impressive.
He noted that fitness was fundamental and necessary in life, adding that the well-being of the people would not be complete without fitness, which also was part of healthy living on its own.
Asagba Prof Azinge expressed appreciation to the Asaba International Road Race Committee for putting the event together, the medical team for ensuring a seamless exercise, the security agencies and the Red Cross Society for the roles they played.
The Monarch also thanked the State Head of Service, Dr. Mininimi Oseji; for directing civil servants to be part of the exercise, and the media for giving coverage to the walk, disclosing plans to make it a quarterly event.
He used the opportunity to call on people from all walks of life to join him in celebrating his first anniversary on the throne, come Sunday, 5th October, 2025.
