Speak Truth to Criminal Elements – Erijo Urges Arewa Youths

Arewa youths in Delta State have been urged to assist in educating their own on the need to shun criminal activities that tend to jeopardize peace and security in the state.

The Chief of Staff Government House Hon Prince Johnson Erijo, made the call when a delegation of Arewa youths in Asaba paid him a courtesy visit.

Hon Erijo noted that the menace of herdsmen had often been linked to members of the Arewa community, adding that those of them popularly called “Iron Condemn”, were also known to have been involved in some form of criminal activities.

He said as enlightened members of the community, it behoved the Arewa youths to speak to those concerned in the language they would understand, insisting that they had a role to play in ensuring that the rate of crimes perpetuated by their own was drastically reduced.

The Chief of Staff commended the youths for voluntarily indicating interest in partnering with government, assuring them that the Oborevwori administration would continue to collaborate with groups and organizations whose objectives were in tune with the developmental vision of the state government.

Hon Erijo enjoined them to always keep in touch and to ‘say something whenever they see something’ to enable the state authorities take proactive measures that would nip crime and criminality in the bud and guarantee greater safety of the people.

Earlier, Mudassir Sani Umar, who spoke on behalf of the delegation, said the Arewa youths were satisfied with the impressive showings of the Oborevwori administration in the implementation of its MORE Agenda and had come to express their appreciation through the Chief of Staff, Government House. 

He pledged the support of the youths for the state government, especially in ensuring peace and security in the state so that more meaningful development could thrive.
