The Ongoing Ogbeilo–Otuogwu Bay Storm Drainage Project Set to Provide Permanent Solution

The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to permanently tackling flooding challenges in the State Capital Territory.

Consequently, the Agency has assured residents that once ongoing road construction and the accompanying storm drainage projects are completed, incidents of flooding will be effectively eliminated.

Currently, major flood control infrastructure is underway, including the construction of flood control measures at Ogbeilo/Ugbomanta streets with a discharge drain through the Ogbeogonogo market to Otuogwu bay in Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area.

According to the Agency, the project, among others, is designed to ensure free flow of storm water and prevent future blockages that often lead to flooding in densely populated neighborhoods.

The Director General of the Agency, Chief Patrick Ukah, while inspecting the project, called on residents to remain patient and supportive as the job progressed.

He noted that while construction work might cause temporary inconveniences, they were part of the necessary process to deliver lasting solutions to the problem of flooding.

Ukah stressed that the projects being executed by the Agency were designed as permanent measures to control flooding in the capital territory.

DSCTDA further reiterated its commitment to creating a secure, clean, and flood-free capital territory for the benefit of all residents and businesses.
