Ebiliekwe Commends Oborevwori for Widows’ Welfare Scheme

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has been commended for his administration’s robust social security interventions for widows and other vulnerable groups in the state.

Executive Assistant to the Governor on Non Indigenes Affairs, Barr Emeka Ebiliekwe, gave the commendation on Monday while reacting to the flag off of the State Widows’ Welfare Scheme by Governor Oborevwori.

Barr Ebiliekwe noted that the Governor’s commitment to uplifting vulnerable groups and promoting inclusive governance had remained on course, not just for Deltans but also non indigenes.

The EA said the Governor’s determination to bring everyone on board the welfare scheme, irrespective of political, ethnic or religious affiliations, was a testament to his affirmation of being Governor of all Deltans.

He added that granting the 10,000 widows who benefitted from the welfare scheme free access to healthcare, through the instrumentality of the Delta State Contributory Health Scheme, was another significant intervention that would help the widows live more meaningful life.

Barr Ebiliekwe, a former Commissioner for Information in Imo State, said the over 266,000 people who had been empowered through various social investment programmes, such as women empowerment and skill acquisition schemes, youth initiatives, MORE grant projects, and business support programmes, also included non indigenes

He assured the Governor of the continued support of non indigenes in Delta state for his administration in appreciation of the peace, security, patronage and inclusivity they were enjoying in the state.
