Ahead of the Delta State Governnent budgeting for the 2023 fiscal year, the Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon (Chief) Ferguson Onwo, on Monday, inspected the level of work on the Umeh Grammar School Principal’s Quarters project at Umeh, in Isoko South local government area.
Onwo, who represents Isoko South Constituency 1 in the House, said the project, which was one of his Constituency projects as a member of the State Legislature, was billed for completion before the end of the first quarter of next year.

The Lawmaker, who was conducted round by the contractor handling the project, Engr Favour Ugbosu, explained that the school had a serious accommodation problem, particularly for the Principal, hence the project, which he said was now 70% complete.
The Majority Leader expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of work so far done, stressing “ I am impressed with the over 70% work done and the quality of the job. I am sure they will be done with the roofing in the next few weeks and the project is expected to be completed by the first quarter of next year”.

Upon a request by women in the community, Hon Onwo announced his taking over of the Umeh Women Development Center building project, currently at the roofing stage.
The Legislator, who doubles as the Chairman, Assembly Committee on Information, said the Women Development Centre project and the furnishing of the Umeh Community Town Hall, which he also promised to undertake, would be executed with personal funds.

The Majority Leader also inspected parts of Umeh community recently ravaged by flood and expressed worries over the extent of devastation.
He said the problem was not peculiar to Umeh Kingdom as many parts of the country were experiencing same, but assured that the state government would intervene to cushion the effect of the natural disaster, including remedial works on the internal roads affected by the flood.

Onwo also promised to reach out to authorities to remediate the failed portion of the Olomoro – Enwhe road linking several communities in the locality with the East-West road, to make it easily motorable.
The Majority Leader commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Speaker of the State Legislature, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, without whose support he would not have performed so well as a Lawmaker in the State Assembly.

At a meeting with the people after the inspections, Hon Onwo implored them to expect more development projects from the PDP-led administration in the state.
The Majority Leader said his relationship with Umeh Kingdom remained unbreakable hence he would continue to accord the people the desired respect and attention, while promising more dividends of democracy.
He appealed to the people to vote massively for PDP candidates in the 2023 general elections, saying that the present administration of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa had done so much for the people of Isoko nation and the state at large.

The President General of Umeh Community, Pastor Emamohwo Simeon, described Hon Onwo as a promise keeper, saying that the people of Umeh were very happy with his representation at the State Assembly, while reassuring the Lawmaker of Umeh’s votes to return him to the House in 2023.
He appealed to the Majority Leader to look into some of the highlighted demands earlier presented to him by the community when they visited his office in Asaba a few weeks ago.

Secretary of the Umeh Women Association, Odikori Gold, said they would continue to look up to Onwo for directions, saying that they were already armed with their PVCs ahead of the 2023 general elections.
While assuring the Lawmaker of massive votes for PDP, she thanked him for his promise to complete the Umeh Women Development Centre building project.
