The Senior Political Adviser to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Rt. Hon (Chief) Funkekeme Solomon, has described the life of the wife of the State Governor, Dame Edith Okowa, as that of service to God and humanity.
Hon Solomon, in a congratulatory message to Dame Okowa, said her spirituality was a great asset to the first family and the entire Delta state, pointing out that she had remained a virtuous woman and a source of inspiration to the women folk.
He noted that the First Lady was an epitome of humility, and exemplified a good wife, a loving and caring mother, a worthy counselor and a prayer warrior, who had been a pillar of support to her husband, the Governor, culminating in the remarkable giant strides of the Okowa administration.
The Senior POLAD stated that Dame Okowa’s pet project, the 05 Initiative, had brought relief to many families, especially with the establishment of Sickle Cell clinics across the state, which had given sufferers of the Sickle Cell anaemia hope of survival, with the encouraging message that “the health condition is not a death sentence”.
Hon Solomon added that the free medical outreach of Dame Okowa’s 05 Initiative, in collaboration with some donor healthcare providers, particularly Restore Sight Africa, was another milestone in her determination to impact positively on humanity, while her regular visits to hospitals to settle medical bills of indigent patients, and to Correctional Centers to pay for some of the inmates with the option of fine, spoke volume of the milk of human kindness in her.
He felicitated with the First Lady on her birth anniversary and urged her to keep up her good work, while praying God to grant her good health, strength, wisdom and the grace to carry on.
