As Deltans celebrate 7 years in office of the State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, the PDP candidate for the 2023 Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency House of Representatives election, Hon Nnamdi Ezechi, says it has been 7 years of remarkable progress in all sectors of the state’s economy.
Hon Ezechi, in a congratulatory message to the Governor, noted that his administration would continue to be referenced as one which devoted attention to the development of the state capital, Asaba, with the establishment of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency.
He said by hitting the ground running within the first three days of his inauguration with the transmission of the Bill for a law to establish the Agency, which was given expedited passage by the State Assembly, Okowa left no one in doubt as to his preparedness for the governance of the state.
The PDP House of Reps candidate stated that the creation of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency came with a multiplier effect on the socioeconomic development of not just the state capital, but the entire state, as many businesses, particularly in the hospitality industry, world class eateries, shopping malls and gigantic plazas, had been established in Asaba and the environs, due to the existence of the enabling environment for such businesses to flourish.
Hon Ezechi added that it was no longer news that a mega Secretariat building for civil servants, named after the Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Chike Edozien, an Appeal Court Complex, Traditional Rulers Council Secretariat Complex, as well as several thousand kilometers of road, the storm drainage control, among others, had been completed and commissioned to the credit of the Okowa administration.
At the Ndokwa axis, the former Executive Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development cited road projects in Okpai, Ibabu, Ushie and Utagba – Uno, among others, as well as the ongoing multi-billion naira Kwale/Beneku bridge and road project, the bridge across River Ethiope in Umusume quarters, Obiaruku, Ukwuani local government area, which he assured the state government would complete before the end of tenure of the Okowa administration.
He noted that more importantly, the past seven years of the Okowa administration was characterized by peace, unity, equity, fairness and justice, which had engendered peaceful coexistence among the diverse ethnic groups in the state.
The PDP candidate commended political, religious, opinion, community and youth leaders across the state for their cooperation and support for the state government, emphasizing that there individual and collective contributions went a long way to achieving set goals.
Hon Ezechi called on Deltans to continue to support the Okowa administration to enable it finish strong, urging them to participate actively in the remaining electoral processes towards the 2023 general elections, to ensure the enthronement of credible leaders at the state and national levels.
