The 2025 delegates conference of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) Delta State branch, has ended in Asaba with the election of a new executive to lead the group in the next four years.

In the election, conducted by the national executive of the Association, represented by the Deputy Secretary General, Comrade Dr. Chukwuma Igbokwe; Comrade Henry Okafor emerged as Chairman, with Comrade Igho Julius as 1st Vice Chairman and Comrade Churchill Eghregba as 2nd Vice Chairman.


Comrade Arubi Orugboh was elected Treasurer; Comrade Jonah Owhefere, Internal Auditor; while Comrades Ujomoh Charles, Emeshili Ifeoma, Obi Promise, Kebodi Scholarstica Evelyn and Abeke Gregory emerged as Ex-Officio members.

In his message to the conference, the State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, reiterated the commitment of his administration to ensuring a conducive working environment for civil servants in the state, as well as enhancing their welfare.


The Governor, who was represented by the Functioning Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishments and Pension, Mr Kingsley Olumukoro; said government held the workforce in high esteem and would continue to leverage their contributions to the growth and development of the state, while urging them, especially members of the Association, to continue to dedicate themselves to their duties for the greater good of the state.

For her part, the State Head of Service, Dr Mininimi Oseji; who was also represented on the occasion, harped on the need for all categories of civil servants in the state to respect the Civil Service Rules, emphasizing that discipline and high ethical standards remained sacrosanct.

The highlight of the event was the swearing-in of the new executive by the national officer, Comrade Dr. Chukwuma Igbokwe; after which the newly elected Chairman, Comrade Henry Okafor; in his acceptance speech, thanked the delegates for the opportunity given him and other officers to serve, promising to consolidate the achievements of the past executive.


In an interview, the outgone Chairman, Comrade Martins Bolum; expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the conference, especially the election, and urged the new executive to sustain the momentum of success recorded by the Association over the past four years.

Comrade Bolum identified a peaceful union as the legacy of his tenure, recalling that he inherited a crisis-ridden body and worked ha rd to reposition it on the path of progress, with lots of strides to show.
136 delegates were accredited for the election, which took place at the Association’s Secretariat on Maryam Babangida Way, Asaba.
