The Media and Publicity Committee on the burial of the late Distinguished Federal Lawmaker and legal luminary, Senator Barrister Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, has officially released the programme of events for his final burial rites.
The programme was announced at a meeting of the Committee held on Monday, 2nd February 2026, at the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) Conference Room, Asaba, Delta State.
According to the schedule released by the Committee’s Chairman, Chief Patrick Ukah, and Secretary, Kweike Phil Elueme; burial activities will span over two weeks and will commence on Thursday, 12th February 2026, with a Valedictory Session at the Senate Chambers of the National Assembly, Abuja, where serving and former Lawmakers will pay glowing tributes to their late colleague, to be followed by a Vigil Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, Abuja.
A Night of Tribute has been scheduled for Tuesday, 24th February 2026, at the Dome Event Centre, GRA, Asaba.
The event will bring together dignitaries, political associates, family members, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate the life, service, and legacy of the former Federal Lawmaker.
On Thursday, 26th February 2026, a Court Valedictory Session will be held in honour of Senator Nwaoboshi’s outstanding contributions to the legal profession and the judiciary, after which a Service of Songs and Vigil Mass will take place at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Ibusa, commencing at 6 pm same day.
The Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, 27th February 2026, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Ibusa, by 12:00 noon, to be followed by interment.
A reception will be held at the Anioboshi Primary School Field, near the Federal Girls’ College, Ibusa, by 2:00pm.
Traditional burial rites, including the Okanga and Ogbu dances, will take place on Saturday, 28th February 2026, alongside other customary ceremonies at his Isieke family home in Ibusa, in accordance with community traditions.
The Burial Media and Publicity Committee has called on well-wishers, political associates, friends, colleagues, and members of the general public to take note of the programme and participate in the burial activities to pay their final respects to the departed Senator.
The Committee also expressed deep appreciation to all individuals and groups who have sent messages of condolence and support to the family, while praying for God’s abundant blessings upon them all.
