The Special Project Director of the Asaba Water Front Projects, Hon. Barr. Victor Ebonka; on Wednesday, undertook an inspection tour and the project site.

During the visit, he discovered that some portions of the 400-hectare land, duly acquired by the state government, gazetted and compensation fully paid, allocated to Four Clans Nigeria Limited for the Niger City project, had been encroached by certain individuals.

Barr. Ebonka, a former Ika North East Local Government Chairman and State ALGON Chairman of his time; wondered why any reasonable person would choose to buy land in a fast growing city like Asaba without proper verification from the relevant authorities.

The Special Project Director, who was accompanied by some Town Planners, emphasized the importance of the Asaba Water Front projects and advised the intruders to voluntarily pull down all illegal structures before the government would commence the demolition of such structures without notice, which he warned would be anytime soon.

Barr. Ebonka pointed out that with the construction of a Six-Lane Road to the Water Front, now completed; payment of compensation, provision of security and all the necessary approvals that had been secured, the state government had fully fulfilled its part of the obligation.

He added that the second phase had commenced with the excavation of sand at the bank of the River Niger by the two partnering companies, North China Construction Company and Four Clans Nig Limited, preparatory to proper reclamation of the land.

This, he explained, would also include the construction of the bond wall, access roads and all the state-of-the-art infrastructures contained in the Memorandum of Understanding for the Water Front City and the Niger City projects, expected to be ready in a few years time.

The Special Project Director thanked Governor Sheriff Obborevwori for his commitment to the execution of the world-class projects, through the full release of funds, expressing confidence that the projects would significantly boost tourism considering the number of reputation multinational companies expected to take up spaces in the cities.
