A former Commissioner for Health in Delta State and Ugobueze of Asaba Kingdom, Chief Dr. Nicholas Azinge; has commended the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Prof. Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON; for his visionary leadership which has culminated in initiatives that place the community on the path of accelerated development.

Chief Dr. Azinge, a Professor of Medicine at Howard University, Washington DC; gave the commendation while speaking with Journalists at the end of the maiden Asaba Economic Summit, organised as part of activities to mark the 2025 Asaba Day.

He noted that the Asagba had demonstrated considerable passion, resilience, selflessness and commitment to diligently pursuing the Asaba cause, leaving no one in doubt about his good intentions for the people of Asaba.

The University Don said the Asaba Economic Summit threw up lots of investment possibilities which should be followed up with vigour to fruition, stressing that the exercise should not end up as a talk show because investment was crucial to meaningful engagement of the youths and must be taken seriously.

“My take on the summit is that a lot has been said and we need to put them into action. So, we’ve talked about some major points today, but we need to go further to marshal how to carry them out. That’s what I believe will make the success of this summit, because when we talk and talk without any idea of how to practicalize all we have said, then we have achieved nothing.

“We need the goals and objectives,  then we have to find the pathway to get there; that’s the major task ahead of the Committee on Driving Investment in Asaba and indeed all Asaba sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora. We need to be united, we need to work on our youths and we need to find them employment instead of always accusing them of selling land.

“If there’s nothing meaningful for them to do and they do what they have to do, then we the elders have failed. We must find a way to engage them so that the lands can be returned and we use them to do other things that will bring development to Asaba.

“I want to thank His Royal Majesty for his vision. He has been a very focused leader. His initiatives have always been Asaba-centric, to develop Asaba and move Asaba forward. So, we and the Olinzeles, and all Asaba people must support Asagba Prof Azinge, the 14th Asagba of Asaba, so that Asaba can become the true investment destination. Like the Monarch noted, not the question, but the answer”, Chief Dr. Azinge said.
