Ezechi Condoles Okpai Kingdom on Passing of Igwe Ugbome II, Congratulates New Uwaoma

The member representing the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, has expressed sadness over the passing of the traditional ruler of Okpai Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Ugbome II, which he said was devastating to the royal family, the Okpai people and Delta State at large.

In a condolence message, Hon Ezechi described the late monarch as an accomplished ruler whose long reign was marked by wisdom, peace and impactful leadership that earned him the respect and admiration of his people.

He said the passing of Igwe Ugbome II represented a monumental loss, noting that the monarch ascended the throne over six decades ago and reigned for an unprecedented 61 years, leaving behind enduring legacies of unity, stability and traditional excellence in Okpai Kingdom.

“On behalf of my family and the good people of Ndokwa nation, I condole with the immediate family of the late Igwe and the entire Okpai Kingdom. Igwe Ugbome II was an ambassador of peace whose wealth of experience and leadership will be greatly missed. I pray that God grants him eternal rest and gives his family and people the fortitude to bear this great loss”, Ezechi stated.

Meanwhile, Rt. Hon. Ezechi has congratulated the people of Okpai Kingdom on the successful installation of Prince Chukwumeke Ugbome as the new Uwaoma of Okpai Kingdom, describing the event as a defining moment of continuity in the kingdom’s traditional leadership following the passing of the late Igwe.

He expressed optimism that the new Uwaoma would consolidate the strong foundation laid by his father, praying for divine wisdom, strength and guidance to preside over the affairs of the kingdom and lead Okpai to greater heights.
