Representatives of the Asagba of Asaba in satellite communities in the kingdom, locally called ‘Anya Asagba’, have been told to ensure that the decisions of the Asagba-in-Council are implemented in their areas of control.

His Royal Majesty, Asagba Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON; gave the charge on Friday during the inauguration of the Anya Asagba for the Asagba Palace zone, comprising Jesus Saves, Agric Road, Standard Life, Summit Road axes, amongst others.

He said it behoved the Anya Asagba to transmit the Palace proclamations, arising from the meetings of the Asagba-in-Council, to their respective settlements and ensure they were implemented to the latter, citing the recent ban on “Iron Condemn” scavenging in Asaba, which he stressed must be strictly enforced.

The forward-thinking Monarch added that his representatives were also there to maintain security, promote environmental sanitation, preach respect for the customs and traditions of the land to non indigenes in their domains, while encouraging peaceful coexistence of all.

While stressing the importance of a Police Station in the Asagba Palace zone, the King challenged the Anya Asagba to set up a formidable vigilante group to strengthen security in the zone, saying that it was one of the things the zone could do for itself without having to wait for the government.

The Asagba announced that he had made a requisition for 2000 units of solar street light from the Rural Electrification Agency in Abuja, with a firm assurance that they would be captured in the Federal supplementary budget.

On link roads in the zone, he promised to take up the issue with the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, urging residents of the area to be patient as he continued to push for better living conditions for them.

In an address presented by Prof Emmanuel Onwuka, the Asagba Palace zone thanked Asagba Prof Azinge for the idea of Anya Asagba, which it noted had helped to give residents of Asaba satellite communities a sense of belonging, appreciating his efforts in curbing cultism and drug abuse in the land.

The zone emphasized the need for  a Police Station, good road network, street light, among other social amenities and urged the Asagba to intervene on their behalf.

In an interview after the inauguration, the Anya Asagba in the zone and Omeifeoma of Asaba, Enyi Barr. Theodora Giwa-Amu; said it was the beginning of a new era of collective responsibility for the greater good of the community.

Enyi Ogbueshi Nabo Giwa-Amu said she was highly excited to witness the inauguration, which consummated the cooperation she had been looking forward to in the area, and solicited the support of members of the executive and residents of the zone in implementing the charges of the Asagba.
