The event was organised by the Asaba Got Talent Committee set up by the Asagba of Asaba, with Rt. Hon Ngozi Okolie as Chairman.

The Monarch noted that Nigerian youths, especially those in Asaba, had a lot of potential, but needed opportunities to showcase them.

Nna Agu said: “Let me appreciate all the contestants, and more particularly the judges, for a job well done. It has been an exciting maiden edition of Asaba Got Talent, and I’m highly delighted with the standard displayed, which I believe will grow from strength to strength. But more importantly I want to say that I’m pleased that it has yielded the expected result of discovering talents in different spheres of creativity and ingenuity and I want to congratulate the winners.

“Let me say without equivocation that as far as I’m concerned, all the contestants are winners in their own rights and we have to applaud and appreciate them; and like I have been saying, the future is there for them; a lot to conquer, going forward. Let them not dispare or lose hope. They can come back next year to contest and win.

“As it is I want to commend the organisers for doing an excellent job within such a short time with limited resources. It’s going to be an annual event, going forward. I know that we will continue to raise the bar, so I want to thank all the people here gathered.

He thanked some of the dignitaries present who supported the event and pledged his own support for all the contestants so that they could all go home happy and fulfilled.

In his remarks, the Chairman, Organising Committee and SSA to the Governor on Entertainment, Frank De Don, thanked the Asagba, whom he described as the first citizen of Asaba, for setting up the Talent Hunt Committee and wished him a happy birthday in advance.

He said the Asaba Got Talent competition was intended to scout for the next generation of artists and encourage the youths to start discovering themselves and be creative.

In an interview, the Committee Chairman and member representing the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Ngozi Okolie; said the outcome of the event showed that many youths out there had hidden talents, pointing out that those discovered would be nurtured and assisted to become stars in their own rights.

Some of the winners thanked Asagba Prof Azinge and the organisers for the initiative, saying it was a great opportunity for them to showcase their talents.
