The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has said the DELTA STATE ANTI-TERRORISM AND ANTI-CULTISM LAW (AMENDMENT) BILL is a definite declaration of government’s commitment to securing the lives and property of citizens.
The Speaker also explained that the successful third time reading and passage of the proposed legislation at Wednesday’s plenary after an exhaustive scrutiny, had provided a powerful tool for law enforcement agencies to work.
Speaking after hitting the gavel that sealed the procedural processing of the Bill, Rt Hon Guwor said the significance of the amendment of the Principal Law could not be overstated.
He expressed profound gratitude to members for their patriotic spirit, unity of purpose, and intellectual contributions throughout the legislative journey of the proposed law.
“Distinguished colleagues, I congratulate all of us on the successful passage of the Delta State Anti-Terrorism and Anti-Cultism (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
“By strengthening our existing laws, we are sending an unambiguous message to all purveyors of crime and instability, that there is no hiding place for you in Delta State”, Guwor stated.
In a related development, the Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has reiterated the resolve of the House to strengthening collaboration with the Executive in building a strong and prosperous state.
Reacting to Wednesday’s third reading and subsequent passage of the DELTA STATE COLLEGES OF EDUCATION BILL, Guwor described the development as momentous for the future of education in the State.
He said the journey of the Bill from presentation to first reading, second reading, consideration at the Committee level, and eventual passage, was a testament to members’ collective commitment to progress and the well-being of Deltans.
Guwor stressed that the passage of the Bill marked a significant step towards harmonizing the operations of Colleges of Education, enhancing academic excellence and providing a uniform system of operation in the institutions.
He said it would undoubtedly strengthen teacher education, improve the quality of graduates and ultimately contribute to a more robust and efficient education system in the state.
Rt Hon Guwor particularly commended the hard work and diligence of the Chairman and members of the House Committee on Education for their meticulous review and robust engagement with stakeholders at the public hearing on the Bill.
