Delta State Government has said it will continue to support well organized youth organizations operating within the ambits of the law.

The Chief of Staff, Government House, Hon Prince Johnson Erijo, made this known while playing host to a delegation of the Nigeria Youth Organization (NYO), during a courtesy visit.

Hon Erijo noted that the Oborevwori administration was youth-friendly and would always encourage and support them to engage in activities and programmes that would help to shape the society.

The Chief of Staff commended the Nigeria Youth Organization for its interest in the protection of national assets, especially oil pipelines, saying that the vandalism of such assets was injurious to the national economy.

He expressed appreciation to the group for proposing to engage in sensitization campaign against drug abuse, cultism and prostitution, which had ruined the future of many youths, stressing the need for them to take advantage of the various youth development and empowerment programmes of the state government.

Hon Erijo urged the organization to assist in directing the focus of the younger generation to meaningful engagements for the greater good of the society.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the group, Mr. Edwin Aken, thanked the state government for creating opportunities for the youth through various empowerment programmes.

Mr. Aken said the organization was involved in the protection of public facilities put in place for the well-being of the people, adding that the body was proposing to organise a sensitization campaign against social vices, including drug abuse, cultism, prostitution, among others.
