A former member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Chief Chinwe Monu-Oduah, has described the 1999-2007 Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, as a trail blazer, who laid the foundation for the now branded Delta State.

Hon Monu-Oduah, who represented the Oshimili South Constituency in the State Assembly from 2003-2007, made the remark in a goodwill message to the former Governor on his 67th birth anniversary.

She noted that 18 years after leaving the exalted office of Governor, Chief Ibori’s name still resonates in different aspects of national life, just as he remains a highly esteemed national leader and a rallying point in the country.

The former Lawmaker and one-time Commissioner for Commerce and Industry noted that Ibori’s tenure was a movement that would not be forgotten in a hurry in Delta, as all sectors and parts of the state felt the impact of his bold and detribalized leadership.

Hon Chief Monu-Oduah said Chief Ibori remains her leader, stressing that the leadership standard he set when he held sway, his mentorship of younger generation of Nigerians, his accessibility and live and let live mindset, would be difficult to surpass.

The Obi Nwanyi prayed God to continue to keep the former People’s Governor strong and healthy to accomplish more for himself, his Oghara kingdom, Delta State and Nigeria in general, and wished him many happy returns of the day.
