Public spirited individuals and organizations have been urged to reach out to the very many people who need to be served, not only in their immediate environment, but also the larger society.

His Royal Majesty, Asagba Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON, the 14th Asagba of Asaba, made the call when a delegation of an Asaba-based publishing company visited to present copies of On Point English and Mathematics text books to him for distribution to Primary Schools in Asaba.

Asagba Prof Azinge said what mattered most was the spirit behind the act of giving, emphasizing that it must not be solicited for it to happen.

His Royal Majesty thanked the On Point publishers for the kind gesture, which he noted could have a multiplier effect, adding that it was in line with his vision of advancing education in the Asaba kingdom.

The Asagba maintained that all he had achieved since ascending the throne would not have been possible without the support of the people, and solicited more collaborations from sons and daughters of Ahaba in branding the town and making life more meaningful for the people.

He pointed out that the books would be handed over to the Welfare and Endowment Committee, headed by Chief Prof Josephine Anene-Okeakwa, for distribution to the schools, saying that the donors, by their gesture, were sowing a seed because the children who would use the books could become great men and women in years to come.

The highly esteemed traditional ruler urged the publishing company to remain focused and never relent in impacting on the Asaba community, and called on other organizations to emulate their kind gesture.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and former member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Chukwunwike Okpunor, said the 240 English and Mathematics text books, were the organizations modest contribution to the advancement of education in Asaba.

Hon Okpunor said the company was inspired by the concerns of the Asagba for the schools in his kingdom, citing his fact finding visit to the Model Technical College and the recent donation of 100 chairs and desks to Asagba Mixed Secondary School and 300 text books to three primary schools in Asaba as bold steps towards improving teaching and learning in the schools.
