Ndokwa East Council Chairman, Vincent Osilonya, Marks One Year in Office With Plethora of Projects to Show, Promises More Ahead.

Pursuant to its avowed commitment to ensuring the security of life and property, the Ndokwa East Local Government Council has presented five Sienna buses to security agencies in the area.

The Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon Chief Vincent Osilonya, made the presentation at Aboh during the celebration of his one year in office.

The beneficiaries were the Nigeria Police Force, Aboh and Ashaka Divisions, Iselegwu/Ibabu Junction and Oloa Ossissa/Abala Junction Vigilante/Anti-Cult Joint Security Patrol Teams.

Chief Osilonya, while urging the beneficiaries to put the vehicles to judicious use, announced that more security outfits would soon be floated to further strengthen security in the Council Area.

The Council Chairman the vision and mission statement of his administration was “Re-setting Ndokwa East Local Government for More, adding that, as a Public Servant, he had resolved to use the commonwealth of the LGA for physical projects with direct and positive impact on the lives of the people.

He stated that the dream of his administration was for every community in the area to feel the presence of the Council, pointing out that all the projects, either completed or ongoing, were based on the communities’ need assessment.

Chief Osilonya said he was happy that Ndokwa East of today was wearing a new look, courtesy of the good number of people – oriented projects embarked on by his administration in the areas infrastructural and human capital development.

He listed the completed projects to include, the reconstruction of 102 units of open stores at Umuosumili Ossissa, fencing of Oduga Primary School, Ushie, construction of Solar Powered Water Scheme, at Onicha Utchi, construction of 70 units of  open stores in Utchi Oboma, construction of toilets at Utchi Oboma, construction of Ushie Secondary School Science Laboratory/Hall, construction of Oloa Ossissa 3 Classroom Block Building at Oloa Ossissa and construction of Umu – Okpala Town Hall. 

Others are grading of earth roads in Ndokwa East, purchase of official vehicles for Chairman, Vice Chairman and Leader of the Legislative Arm, purchase of (1) motorcycle for livestock management committee, renovation and provision of office furniture for the Chairman’s office, Vice Chairman’s office, Legislative Arm Chambers and Secretary to the Local Government’s office.

Also accomplished are the acquisition of 40 plots of land, acquisition of 8 plots of land for a dumpsite, purchase of a bus for the Legislative Arm, conversion of 40 open market shops to luck up stores in Ashaka market, and a water scheme project in Ashaka market.

On the E-Library at Ashaka, he said it was one of the landmark projects of his administration and one of its kind in the neighborhood, which would serve as a research hub for students and elites, disclosing plans to make it a Computer Based Test (CBT) centre where children in the area could write their examinations without having to travel long distances.

Chief Osilonya emphasized that Aboh remained the Council headquarters, explaining that the Administrative Block building at Ashaka was meant to keep the Local Government running whenever perennial flooding occurred.

He thanked the Legislative Arm of the Council for its support and understanding which helped to ensured stability in governance, as well as members of his Cabinet, management and staff, political leaders and traditional rulers for their contributions to the success of his one year in office and promised to do more in the years ahead.

The event, which started with thanksgiving, featured goodwill messages from political and community leaders, including Chief Godswill Obielum, Hon Emeka Osamuta, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, Dr. Charles Olise, Comrade Amechi Asugwuni, Chief Mary Chidi, amongst others.
