A grassroots politician and Executive Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Community Development, Enyi Ogbueshi Taju Isichei, has congratulated Asagba Prof Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, SAN, OON, Azinge on his successful ascension to the throne nine months ago.

Ogbueshi Isichei, an illustrious son of Asaba, who extended the felicitations to the First Class monarch during a courtesy visit, noted that he had occupied the stool with inestimable carriage, dignity and respect.

He said he would want to freely identify with the King and partner with the palace in driving his interest in promoting Asaba to the outside world through some strategy programmes and activities, including a weekly radio and television programme, “Inside Oshimili South”, which he had sponsored for over six years and still running.

The Governor’s aide disclosed that he had also helped to protect the boundary where he built his house from encroachment and ensured that tenament rate in that axis was collectively collected, through the landlords and tenants association, and credited to the Oshimili South Local Government’s account.

The APC chieftain said he was proud of Asagba Prof Azinge’s accomplishments in his quest to brand Asaba and prayed God to keep him strong and healthy to be able to bring the needed transformation and benefits to the Asaba kingdom.

Responding, Asagba Prof Epiphany Azinge thanked Ogbueshi Isichei for the visit, placing on record his keen interest in branding Asaba to both national and global arena.

The Asagba said, as a traditional ruler, he would continue to prioritize the welfare of the people, adding that he would want to walk the streets of Asaba and see some smiles on the faces of the people, a duty he insisted should not be left for politicians alone.

His Royal Majesty pointed out that he had taken steps to enhance revenue generation to the community’s Endowment Fund, to enable the Welfare and Endowment Committee to undertake some projects and programmes aimed at improving the living standards of the people.

Asagba Prof Azinge disclosed that the Committee recently donated 100 chairs and desks to Asagba Mixed Secondary School, and 100 copies of textbooks each to Oneh, Ahabam and Abu Ator Primary Schools, while 100 Asaba women would be empowered in a couple of days.

He said there were also proposals for the provision of streetlights and water schemes in some parts of Asaba, adding that he had reached out to the State Coordinator of the NYSC to post at least seven Corps Doctors to the Palace, for redistribution to the eleven Primary Healthcare Centres in Oshimili South Local Government Area, currently being supervised by only one Medical Doctor, with the assurance that the community would be responsible for their welfare.

The highly enthusiastic and charismatic traditional ruler frowned at the common sight of shanties in some parts of Asaba and announced plans to assist in improving the living conditions of persons in such areas, while declaring that only those in need would benefit from the community’s empowerment programmes.

Asagba Prof Azinge said he was happy with the confidence of Asaba people in his leadership because he had remained guided by accountability since his ascension to the throne and tasked politicians to imbibe the same virtue in order to earn the trust and confidence of the people.

He commended Ogbueshi Taju Isichei for his interest in the growth and development of his community, and assured him that his contributions would continue to be acknowledged and appreciated by the palace, while encouraging other sons of Asaba like him to remain supportive of his reign and the overall well-being of the community.
