The member representing the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon Nnamdi Ezechi, has reflected on his two years as the elected representative of the people of the Federal Constituency.
Hon Ezechi, while looking back to June 13, 2023, when he was inaugurated along with 359 other members of the Green chamber, said It was a moment of gratitude, accountability, and renewed commitment to the mandate graciously entrusted to him by his constituents.
He stated that in the past two years, his legislative and constituency focus had remained firmly rooted in areas essential to lifting his constituency to greater heights.
In the area of education, he said classroom blocks with toilet facilities were constructed and furnished at Egboma Mixed Secondary School, Akoku Uno, Oluchi Primary School, Okpai, Mixed Secondary School, Onicha Ukwuani, while laptops were distributed to a select number of public secondary schools to improve digital literacy amongst students.
Hon Ezechi disclosed that more classrooms would be constructed and furnished this year in Ebologu Grammar School, Utagba-Uno, Ethiope Primary School, Obiaruku, Oduga Secondary School, Ushie, Onuaboh Secondary School, Onuaboh.
On healthcare, the Federal Lawmaker said Through his intervention, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), had approved and included in its budget the construction and furnishing of a Primary Healthcare Centre in Utchi, clan, Ndokwa East LGA, adding that free medical outreach programs would soon be rolled out for the elderly in rural communities across the Constituency.
He disclosed that hundreds of youths were trained in different trades and empowered with financial grants, in partnership with some federal agencies, to help them establish small businesses, while 30 others benefitted from the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative of the federal government, with prospects of more benefitting before the end of the year.
Hon Ezechi the electrification of Ndokwa communities had been the centerpiece of his legislative agenda, while the long-stalled IPP Phase 2 project in Okpai and associated infrastructure remained a top priority for him and the entire Ndokwa nation
The Reps member said through his intervention the collapsed Asaba-Ase – Uzere bridge in Ndokwa East had been awarded and the contractor mobilised to site to commence work, adding that the Azunze market project in Kwale had been completed and solar-powered streetlights been installed across various communities including Utagba-Uno, Emu Obodoeti, Okpai, and Ossissa, with plans to extend same to Aboh, Ezionum, Utagba-Ogbe, Ibrede, Onogbokor, amongst others, in the nearest future.
