Asagba Prof Azinge Says Ensuring That Peace Continually Reigns In Asaba Remains His Major Concern

The people of Asaba have been commended for valuing and cherishing their cultural and traditions, even with their exposure and wealth of experience.

The Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Asagba Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON, gave the commendation in an interview with the Niger Delta Television and Magazine.

Asagba Prof Azinge said there was nothing wholesomely wrong with people identifying with their culture and tradition, stressing that a blend of modernity, cultural norms and values, backed with sensitization, was the magic wand that could promote the cultural heritage of a people.

The distinguished legal luminary and two-term Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, said he had been trying to revive some of the abandoned culture and traditions of his kingdom and bring them to the awareness of the younger generation.

He added that Asaba people were happy with the progress so far made in that regard, even as he said his major project was to ensure that there was no threat to peace in his kingdom, and he was glad that Asaba had remained peaceful since he ascended the throne in October last year.

When asked the area the Asaba community would need government’s intervention the most, the monarch highlighted the Asagba of Asaba Permanent Palace Building, where work had commenced with the funds raised by Asaba sons and daughters, explaining that though the community was not beggarly, the state government, notable individuals and organizations had been contacted for assistance.

Asagba Prof Azinge rated the performance of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori high in all sectors, commending him for pursuing his MORE agenda with missionary zeal and urging him to continue to make Asaba a major beneficiary of his administration in the next two years and beyond.

His Royal Majesty described the Governor as a highly focused leader, resolute, determined, result – driven, and to a large extent, forthright in his governance style, which had seen him always in the field to monitor projects to ensure standardization, adoption of international best practices and above all, value for money.

He further described Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as a prudent administrator, admiring him for keying into the vision of his predecessor by not abandoning inherited projects, in demonstration of continuity of government, highlighting the even spread of the state’s resources across the three senatorial districts as a testament to equity and fairness.
