OLINZELE: Osowa Owelle Ahaba, Engr. Chief Chris Chukwurah, Renews Oath of Allegiance

A foremost environmentalist, Green Energy Advocate and Osowa Owelle of Asaba, Engr Chief Chris C. Chukwurah, FNSE, has pledged unalloyed loyalty to and unflinching support for the 14th Asagba of Asaba, HRM, Asagba Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON.

Engr Chief Chris Chukwurah made the pledge while renewing his oath of allegiance to Asagba Prof Azinge, the Asagba-in-Council and the entire Asaba community.

In his remarks after subscribing to the relevant oaths, administered by the Akudo of Asaba, Ogbueshi Barr Philip Nwokolo, the Osowa Owelle noted that the title was conferred on him by the late Asagba Prof Chike Edozien, to whom he owed allegiance until his demise, explaining that the allegiance needed to be shifted to the 14th Asagba, hence the renewal of the oath of allegiance.

He recalled that after the passing of the 13th Asagba, the whole world waited with curiosity and high expectations to know who would roundly fit into the vacuum created, considering the intimidating profile of the late Asagba.

The Osowa Owelle said the entry of Asagba Prof Azinge into the race to the throne was a significant turning point in the history of Asaba, as 

the entire community queued behind him from the onset of the selection process to the end where he garnered over 99 per cent of the votes from across the five Ebos of Asaba.

Engr Chief Chris Chukwurah stressed that he was proud to be a strong supporter of Asagba Prof Azinge because he was the best fitted for the throne and possessed all the qualities needed to take Asaba to enviable heights with his local and global connections.

Responding, Asagba Prof Azinge thanked and congratulated the Osowa Owelle on the renewal of his oath of allegiance, which he considered to be a mere formality, because when many were not sure the direction the ship was sailing to, he chested out for him and never looked back.

Nna Agu maintained that he had no reason to doubt the sentiments expressed by Engr Chief Chris Chukwurah in his remarks because he was fully part of the journey to the throne, adding that the Osowa Owelle’s commitment to the administration in the past seven months plus had remained unwavering and his intellectual inputs to Committee engagements overwhelming.

His Royal Majesty particularly appreciated the contributions of  Engr Chief Chris Chukwurah to the progress made by the community’s Tourism Committee where he served as a member and in the Green Energy Advocacy, which he noted was a major contribution to the service of the land.
