The Chief of Staff, Government House, Hon Prince Johnson Erijo, has called on the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Delta State to work closely with the State Bureau of Orientation and Communication to effectively sensitize and orientate the people on government policies and programmes.

Hon Erijo, who made the call when the South South Zonal Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mr. Iboh Otu, visited him at Government House, noted that the two agencies were created to serve the same purpose and should work in synergy to achieve their mandates.

The Chief of Staff noted that NOA metamorphosed from the then Mass Mobilization for Self Reliance, Social Justice and Economic Recovery (MAMSER) of the Babangida administration, which was charged with the mandate of national orientation, value orientation and cooperative development.

He said the set objectives were to sensitize and mobilize citizens to participate in the governance process, promote patriotism and self – reliance among Nigerians, propagate values of social justice, equity and fairness, as well as support economic development.

Hon Erijo acknowledged the operational challenges of NOA, which he noted were not peculiar to the agency, disclosing that the state government was holistically looking into the problems facing federal establishments in the state.

The Chief of Staff assured the agency that things would get better over time and encouraged it to continue to promote the policies and programmes of the Oborevwori administration through sensitization and mobilization of citizens.

The South South Zonal Director of NOA, Mr Iboh Otu, who spoke earlier, said the visit was to brief the Chief of Staff on the operations of his office, the mandate of the agency and the operational challenges of the Delta State office of the establishment.

Mr Otu said though NOA remained a federal agency, the states, including Delta, were expected by law to support the  operations of the organization and appealed to the state government to do the needful in that regard to enable the agency serve the state better.
