Despite the persistent littering of the Koka Junction Flyover axis of the state capital, the Delta State Waste Management Board has intensified efforts to keep the surrounding of the multi-billion naira facility clean at all times.

Since the commissioning of the interchange/flyover, street urchins, street traders and hawkers have undermined the beauty it was designed to add to the environment, turning it to a sleeping ground and dumpsite.

On a daily basis, the Waste Management Board sweeps under and around the flyover, and evacuates the resultant refuse, only for them to resurface shortly after.

That notwithstanding, however, the Board, with Hon Matthew Mofe Edema as Executive Chairman, has vowed not to relent until the desired level of success is achieved.

Pursuant to that, the Board on Tuesday, 6th May 2025, carried out its routine waste evacuation at the said Koka flyover and Kwale park axis along the ever busy Ibusa road, across the expressway, as directed by the Chairman.

The exercise, which was supervised by a Field Operations Supervisor, Mrs Evelyn Orisewezie, aimed to control the rate of refuse dump at the popular junction, Ibusa road and other adjoining roads and streets.

Mrs Orisewezie pointed out that the Board Chairman was passionate about the actualization of the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as it bordered on proper waste disposal across the length and breath of Delta State so as to ensure a clean, green and healthy environment.

She urged Deltans and other residents of the state to continue to collaborate with the Board by registering with Private Sector Participants to ensure a well coordinated waste management system.

The Supervisor reminded the people that the Board Chairman had warned that anyone caught dumping refuse at unauthorized places or littering the environment would face the wrath of the law.
