The Delta State Task Force on Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Operations has been urged to sensitize operators on road safety.

The Chief of Staff, Government House, Asaba, Hon Prince Johnson Erijo, made the call when a delegation of the Task Force paid him a courtesy visit.

Hon Erijo noted that most commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators in urban towns of the state were reckless, with little or no respect for traffic rules and regulations.

He advised the Task Force to liaise with the state executive of the association to organize seminars and sensitization programmes for operators in order to reduce their involvement in accidents and make their operations safer.

The Chief of Staff commended motorcycle and tricycle operators in the state for their support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori before, during and after the 2023 election and for pledging greater support for the Governor in the 2027 election.

Hon Erijo assured that the state government would continue to provide a conducive environment for them to operate and would look into the challenges facing the Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Operators Association with a view to addressing some of them.

Earlier in his remarks, the Director General of the Task Force, Chief Uchenna Okafor, said the association had remained focused on contributing to the economic growth of the state through revenue generation from its large army of operators.

Chief Okafor added that motorcycle and tricycle operators in the state massively supported Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the 2023 election, with a promise of more support in the 2027 election.
