Senator Ned Nwoko has extended a warm welcome to Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, former Governor Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and other key members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as they officially join the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday April 28, 2025.
In a press statement, Senator Nwoko described the move as a historic and symbolic step towards political progress and inclusion for Delta State and the Anioma people.
The official event, which is expected to be attended by prominent political figures, including the Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shetima and the APC National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje was hailed by the lawmaker as the beginning of a new era for Delta State.
“Our people can no longer afford to be left in the margins of national politics”, Nwoko said.
“We must stand as key stakeholders at the very centre where decisions are made, where opportunities are created, and where the future of Nigeria is being shaped”.
Senator Nwoko, who had earlier defected to the APC, expressed satisfaction with the growing momentum in Delta State towards progressive politics, noting that the latest defections would strengthen the region’s political relevance and influence at the national level.
“The movement of the Governor, former Governor, and the broader political structure into the APC is not only significant, it is profoundly symbolic. Together, we will build a stronger New Delta, a prouder Anioma, and a better Nigeria”, he said.
Nwoko currently serves as Chairman of both the Senate Adhoc Committee on Crude Oil Theft and the Senate Committee on Reparation and Repatriation.
