A diasporan, Mrs Joan Agboro – Schell, has been invested as a Fellow/Partner of the Centre for Sustainable Development, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun.

The honour was bestowed on her at the 4th Anniversary and Roundtable on Sustainable Development and World Earth Day, 2025 with the theme: ” Sustainable Partnership Against Crude Oil Theft, Pipeline Vandalism and Illegal Mining “.

The FUPRE-CSD FELLOW is a spotlight and recognition of the highest rank status by the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Centre for Development for those who have distinguished themselves in the noble endeavor of promoting sustainable development  through their works and endeavours.

Mrs Agboro – Schell, who was nominated by a friend, Amb. Gloria Umukotete and represented by Philo, earned the investiture for her commitment to philanthropy and passion for the well-being of the vulnerable and less privileged in the society.

Her nomination for the FUPRE-CSD Fellowship is a resounding affirmation of her selfless dedication and profound impact on gender equality in education.

She epitomizes the quintessence of this award. Her initiatives are not merely aligned with Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 5—ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all, as well as achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls—they are a paragon of innovation and scalability.

As she stands on the precipice of receiving this prestigious recognition, her narrative serves as an inspiration to all who champion the transformative power of education and the imperative of empowering the next generation of girls.

In an interview with our reporter from her base in Germany, Mrs Agboro – Scheil thanked the FUPRE Centre for Sustainable Development for the recognition accorded her, even from outside the country.

She said her NGO, Helping Hands for Africa, HH4A had done a lot to impact on society, and still doing, because it believed that everyone, especially the less privileged, deserved to live a decent life.

Mrs Agboro – Scheil described the recognition as a morale booster, and promised to remain committed to pursuing humanitarian goals for the greater good of humanity.

Let us collectively extol Mrs. Joan Agboro-Schell (JP) for her extraordinary achievements and her steadfast commitment to forging a more equitable world through education.

Her journey is a compelling testimony to the axiom that investing in girls’ education is tantamount to investing in the future. In the grand mosaic of social progress, Joan Agboro-Schell is not merely a thread; she is the weaver, crafting a legacy of empowerment and equality that will endure for generations to come.
