The Delta State Traditional Rulers Council has congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on his emergence as the Vanguard Newspaper’s 2024 Governor of the year in recognition of his outstanding commitment to good governance, impactful leadership and transformative initiatives across Delta State.

The congratulatory message is contained in a three – point communique presented by the Chairman of the Council and Orodje of Okpe, Major General Felix Mujakpuerou (Rtd) , Orhue 1, at the end of the monthly meeting of Council members in Asaba.
The Council remarked that the Governor earned the award on account of his unwavering commitment to transparency, inclusive governance and the rapid socio – economic transformation of the state on the platform of the MORE agenda.

The award, presented to the Governor at the 13th Annual Vanguard Personality of the. Year Awards ceremony in Lagos, celebrates public officials who have demonstrated excellence in public service, infrastructural development, economic transformation and people – oriented leadership.
Flanked by the 1st Vice Chairman, SP Luke Kalanama V111 and 2nd Vice Chairman, and Agbogidi Henry Kikachukwu 1 (Ph.D), the Council Chairman also congratulated the Governor’s Wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, on the successful hosting of a meeting of Royal Queens in the state during which critical issues of state unity and peace were deliberated and suggestions proffered on how to move the state forward.

During the meeting, the Council received in audience the state immunization officer, Dr James Ogbum and his team.
Addressing the Monarchs the State Director of Disease Control and Immunization, Dr Mathew Anibor, informed them about the upcoming measles vaccination exercise slated for May and October, 2025 across the state .

He solicited their support in sensitizing and mobilizing their subjects for active participation in the program to make it successful .
The traditional rulers pledged their support for the vaccination exercise across the state.
The meeting was attended by traditional rulers from across the state, including the Obi of Owa and immediate past Chairman of the Council, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor 11 and the Ovie of the great Idjere Kingdom, HRM Monday Whiskey Obukowho 1 .

Also in attendance were the Asagba of Asaba, HRM, Asagba Prof. Epiphany Azinge, (SAN) and Obi of Abavo, HRM Uche Irenuma 11 among others.
