Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has been commended for putting those who did not give him any chance to succeed to shame in less than two years in office.

A political leader in Oshimili South Local Government Area and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ogbueshi Taju Isichei, gave the commendation while speaking on the soaring political profile and giant strides of the Governor.

Ogbueshi Isichei noted that during the 2023 electoral process, critics saw Oborevwori as a stooge of the system, with no leadership qualities to navigate the onerous task of governance.

He said in less than two years in office, Governor Oborevwori had proved his critics wrong by performing beyond expectations in all sectors of the state, making him the beautiful bride of key political actors, including those in the opposition.

The PDP chieftain noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had fallen in love with Oborevwori following his progressive actions and dispositions, with the Minister of Works, Sen. Engr. David Umahi, adding his voice during the flagging off of the construction of access road to the second Niger bridge.

According to him, a serving APC member representing the Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency of Delta State in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon Waive, having been convinced that Oborevwori would have no problem coming back as Governor in 2027, also recently called for his adoption as the sole candidate for the governorship election.

Ogbueshi Isichei said the Governor had worked hard to endear himself to the people, with several awards to his credit to show for it, pointing out that he had built bridges of peace, especially with the settlement of the age-long Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh land dispute, among others, while focusing on strengthening security through logistics support to security agencies.

The grassroots politician, who is an Executive Assistant to the Governor on Community Development, also cited Oborevwori’s massive infrastructural upgrade of Warri and the environs, as well as in other parts of the state, impactful capacity building and empowerment programs for the youth, payment of bursary to students of Delta origin in tertiary institutions, payment of minimum wage to civil servants, settlement of pension arrears, as strides that had boosted his image and political career.

He explained that for the Governor to have achieved all these and still counting, without borrowing a dime, was a clear demonstration of  prudence, accountability and transparency.

Quoting the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Emomotimi Guwor, who recently said there would be no vacancy in Government House come 2027, the EA assured the Governor that Deltans would reciprocate his impressive showings with their votes in the next governorship election.
