Asagba Prof Azinge Urges OFAAC To Forge A Unique Cultural Identity for Anioma Nation

The Organisation for the Advancement of Anioma Culture (OFAAC) has been commended for maintaining a formidable structure since it was founded 22 years ago.

The Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Asagba Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON, who gave the commendation when the leadership of the organisation paid him a courtesy visit in his palace, noted that the sociocultural body had remained graduated, graded and well structured over time.

The traditional ruler said OFAAC should not be seen to be all about cultural renaissance, but also a platform to forge a unique cultural identity for the Anioma nation, even in the quest for the creation of the proposed Anioma State.

His Royal Majesty thanked the organisation for the visit, and especially for the respect accorded his predecessor in office by shelving the 2024 edition of the Anioma cultural festival following the former Asagba’s demise.

He noted that the 13th Asagba was deeply committed to promoting the cause of OFAAC and did a lot to ensure that the cultural heritage of Anioma people was upheld, promising to consolidate the support and interest devoted to the organization by the immediate past Asagba.

Asagba Prof Azinge also thanked the President of the Organisation, Arc. Kester Ifeadi, for the role he played in his journey to the throne, assuring him that he would be present at this year’s edition of the cultural festival scheduled for Easter Monday.

Earlier, OFAAC President, Arc. Kester Ifeadi, who was accompanied to the palace by the Obi of Ubulu-Unor, HRM, Henry Kikachukwu, Obi of Ukala, HRM, Clement Ejiofor, HRM, Igwe Fredrick Egbumnkeonye of Abala kingdom, Nna Obodo of Akwukwu-Igbo, Chief Newton Jibunor, popularly called Desert Warrior, among others, said the visit was to inform the Asagba about the upcoming annual cultural festival billed to hold on Easter Monday.

He congratulated Asagba Prof Azinge on his ascension to the throne and expressed appreciation for the steps he had taken so far to reposition Asaba for greatness, disclosing that the issue of Anioma cultural identity was being vigorously pursued.
