Police In Delta Intensify Crime Fighting, Make Some Arrests, Recover Arms, Ammunition

Operatives of the CP Special Assignment team  (CP-SAT)  led by ASP Julius Robinson, have raided the house of the fleeing gang leader of some suspected kidnappers who have been terrorizing Abraka, Obiaruku a d Umutu.

During the raid, following an intelligence – led investigation, one Emeka ‘m’ surname unknown, of Evwokenren layout off Ughelli road Agbarho in Ughelli North LGA Delta State, was arrested and a fabricated Semi-Automatic Beretta Pistol with four (4) rounds of live ammunition, four locally made cut-to-size guns, thirteen (13) rounds of live cartridges, and a pair of military uniforms concealed in a black polythene bag were recovered. 

According to a statement by the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, “the suspect is in custody and a manhunt to arrest other members of his gang is ongoing”.

In a related development, operatives of Safer 025, of Safer Highway Patrol, on Wednesday, 19/2/2025, while on stop and search duty on a commercial vehicle, along the Benin/Agbor expressway,  arrested four suspects in possession of three locally made long guns, and charms. 

The suspects namely, Buhari Bala, aged 28; Habibu Sale, 25;  Abdulwahab Musa, 20; and Taisu Bala, 20, all males,  claimed they were from Zaria, Kaduna State, going to a bush before Benin called Igbogri community for hunting expedition. 

The PPRO, SP Bright Edafe, said the suspects were in custody and investigation ongoing. 

Also arrested by operatives of the Agbarho Division, with CSP Pius Eredei as DPO, is one Eriga Enyuche ‘m’ aged 40yrs, whose one-room apartment was raided following a tip-off, and during a search one G-3 Rifle, and one pump action gun, hidden in the ceiling of the room, were recovered. The incident is currently under investigation

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has reiterated that the Command, under his watch, would not relent in the fight against crime and criminality, assuring that Delta state would remain hot for criminals.
