The Executive Chairman of the Delta State Waste Management Board, Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema, has met with the Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye, at the Council headquarters in Issele-Uku.

The meeting was a reunion for both sides, just as it provided an opportunity to reflect on their days at the Waste Management Board and seek  areas of collaboration between the Board and the Local Government Council.

In his remarks, Hon Edema thanked the Council Chairman, who was the immediate past Chairman of the Board, for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage

He said he learned a lot from Hon Chinye, especially the need for team spirit and dedication to achieving the mandate of the Board.

The Executive Chairman commended Hon Chinye for the success recorded by the Board under his watch, pointing out that his achievements served as a template for the current Board to navigate the onerous task of ensuring an efficient and effective waste management and environmental sustainability in the state

Hon Edema solicited the collaboration of the Local Government in enhancing waste management in Isseke-Uku, with notable institutions, including the NYSC Permanent Orientation camp and some industries, as part of efforts to keep the state clean at all times.

Responding, the Aniocha North Council Chairman, Hon Emma Bazim Chinye, thanked the Mofe Edema-led Board for the visit, which he said meant a lot to him as it showed that the new dispensation still recognized him as a member of the Board’s family

Hon Chinye noted that the Board had done a lot to control indiscriminate dumping of refuse and the existence of illegal dumpsites which were major problems militating against achieving a clean environment, especially in urban towns and cities of the state.

He expressed appreciation to Hon  Edema for striving to maintain the standard he set while on the saddle as Chairman of the Board and assured the Board of all  necessary support and collaboration towards achieving its mandate.

In attendance were the  member representing Delta North, Hon. Cosmas Igbenije; D.A/HR Mr  Samuel Okonye; Director, Operations, Mr  Michael Esegba; Director, Legal Services and Compliance, Barr. (Mrs) N. Aforke-Iteheri among other staff of the Board.
