Waste Managers, otherwise known as Private Sector Participants (PSPs) in Delta State have been asked to ensure prompt evacuation of waste from the premises of clients in their respective zones or have their operational mandate withdrawn.
The Executive Chairman of the Delta State Waste Management Board, Hon Matthew Mofe Edema, gave the directive during a crucial meeting with the PSPs in Asaba ..
The Board Chairman said the renewed directive became necessary to keep the PSPs on their toes and ensure that only the serious-minded among them were allowed to operate.
He emphasized the need for the PSPs to regularly maintain their trucks in order to have them on the road at all times, as the business of waste disposal was a daily affair.
Hon Edema told the operators that the Board had set a standard that could only be maintained or improved upon and urged them to work in tandem with the vision of the Board to contribute more significantly to the success of the MORE agenda of the Oborevwori administration.
In his remarks, the member representing Delta North, Hon. Cosmas Igbenije, said the Board was in partnership with the Local Government Councils and the Police, pointing out that more realistic enforcement of waste management laws, rules and regulations was expected to enhance the performance of the Board
For his part, the Chairman, Association of Waste Managers, also known as PSPs, Pastor Samson Osuere, thanked the Board for working to make a difference in the management of waste in the state and promised to ensure that operators complied with the resolutions of the meeting.
