The rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of NNPC Housing Complex road, from the Refinery road end Ekpan in Uvwie LGA, to Edjeba junction in Warri South LGA, will be fully completed in five days time.

The Area Manager of Levant Construction Company, handlers of the project, Engr. Ghassan Fadel, gave the assurance when the Director General of the Warri, Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency, (WUEDA), Hon. Prince Godwin Ejinyere and his team of civil engineers paid an unscheduled visit to the project site on Thursday to ascertain the level of work done so far.

The contractor said the speed with which the job was executed followed the order given by Hon. Prince Godwin Ejinyere that the project should be completed without delay.

The WUEDA Director General, Hon. Prince Ejinyere expressed satisfaction with the extent and quality of work on the project, adding that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori awarded that contract to make the all-important link road motorable.

He said the NNPC Housing Complex link road had been in a state of disrepair for years, and almost became road users’ nightmare. “This was why the Governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori awarded the contract a few months to the end of 2024”, the DG said.

No doubt, when the NNPC Housing Complex road is fully completed, motorists plying the link road will spend between 5 and 10 minutes from Ekpan to Warri, as against the former 30 minutes to one hour time frame.

Prince Ejinyere and his team also visited the flood control project on the Warri Township Stadium road, and desilting of the waterway from there to Ogbe-Ijaw Market.

He inspected the double-cell-box culvert being constructed across the waterway to link Agbasa and Daudu areas of Warri and directed Levant, the contractor handling the project to fast track the job so that it could be completed in record time.

The WUEDA DG was accompanied by the Assistant Director of Projects, Engr. Okeme Obruche; Engr. Okoh Eugene; and a Special Assistant to the Governor, on Technical Matters, Engr. Omamomor Dickson.
