A grassroots politician and one of the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Hon Taju Isichei, has consummated the taking of the Ogbueshi title, also know as ‘ Ikpa Alor ‘ in the Asaba tradition.

By this development, Ogbueshi Taju Isichei joins 70 others who had taken the title in his Umuezeafadia village, Umuaji quarters, Asaba.
The title taking ceremony, which took place on Friday, was graced by the Ogbueshis, dressed in their traditional white attire, with equality white caps and eagle’s feather, as well as bids to match.

A large-size white cow was slaughtered and shared by the title holders, while the traditional processes were conducted by Ogbueshi Chris Onyemenam, represented by Ogbueshi Patrick Onyemenam.

Speaking on the significance of the title, the Vice Chairman of PDP ward 5, Ogbueshi Chiedu Nwokolo, said Ikpa Alor was a highly revered event in Asaba, which puts the title holders in a class of men aged 50 years and above.

Ogbueshi Nwokolo said Mkpa Alor Taju Isichei could now speak boldly among his peers and had demonstrated that he had arrived as an illustrious son of Asaba

He said Ogbueshi Taju Isichei had done a lot for his village, the Asaba community and humanity in general, stressing that the title taking was long over due.
Others who spoke were Ogbueshi Ifeanyi Nwaoji, Ogbueshi Chukwuemekalim Isichei, Mr. Chinedu Attoh and Mrs Ozulonye Okobah.

They all arrested to the suitability of Taju Isichei for the Alor title, pointing out that though he was reluctant to take the title, he could not evade it because he possessed all the qualities to be an Mkpa Alor.
The respondents congratulated Ogbueshi Taju Isichei for accepting the honour due him and urged him to continue to be of selfless service to the community.

In a telephone interview, Hon Taju Isichei, who is now Ogbueshi Ikuku Ama N’onya and his wife Odozi Aku Dia, thanked God for making it possible for him to witness the event, saying that it was a thing of joy to belong to a group where God’s grace made it possible for one to be.

He appreciated his wife and members of his family and assured that the title would spur him to be of greater service to his village and the Asaba community.
