The Delta State House of Assembly is to continue its collaborative efforts with the Executive arm of government in ensuring that the state’s development agenda remains on track.
Speaking ahead of resumption of plenary after the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, said the 8th Delta State Assembly, under the leadership of Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, would witness enhanced legislative productivity in 2025.
Mr Nwaeke said the House was marked by several significant gains in 2024 and that the positive narratives would continue in 2025 and beyond.
The CPS emphasized that under the pragmatic leadership of Rt Hon Guwor, the State Assembly had made significant progress in passing legislations that benefitted the citizens of Delta State.
Nkem Nwaeke noted that the Speaker and his team were very much interested in the good governance of the state and would always ensure that the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Delta State were met.
The CPS said the Speaker, who is the National Treasurer, Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, had gained so much public accolades as a result of his legislative experience and leadership skills, which had made the 8th Assembly vibrant, thick, focused and popular in the comity of State Legislatures.
He assured that his Principal would continue to take steps to strengthen the legislative institution in Delta State and ensure that the House remained productive, in line with its constitutional obligations.
“Looking ahead into 2025, projections for the Delta State House of Assembly are promising.
“Under the quality leadership of Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, the House has already passed a realistic and implementable budget for the 2025 fiscal year which has been assented to by His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State.
“The 979. 2 billion naira budget is a working document for the government to address state issues and promote economic growth, and the Speaker is ever committed to supporting the Governor to succeed in the MORE agenda.
“On resumption of plenary anytime soon, the world will see even more legislative productivity, with focus on passing bills and motions that will benefit the people and residents of Delta State”, Nwaeke added.
