Following the charge of the state government that political Appointees should always endeavour reach out to their people as a way of helping to speed the dividends of democracy, a Special Assistant to the Governor, Comrade Ekengbuda Toju Robinson, during the festive season, extended love to the elderly.
No fewer than 50 of them were reached with packs of rice and cash at Bateren, iyara, Angle Park, among other places, in warri.
Comrade Ekengbuda said the gesture was informed by the vulnerability of elderly persons, especially the women.
He noted that Christmas was not all about making merry, but essentially a season of love and charity, stressing that Jesus Christ, the reason for the season, exemplified love and compassion for mankind, which ought to be extended to others, especially the less privileged.
While interacting with the elderly, Comrade Ekengbuda urged them to remain hopeful and always pray for their children, even in the situations they found themselves.
The SA thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for giving him the opportunity to impact lives in his own little way and promised to remain supportive of his administration while urging Deltans to follow suit.
He also thanked his immediate boss and Delta State Commissioner for Trade and Investments, Hon Samuel Oligida, for working assiduously to promote the MORE agenda of the Oborevwori in the Ministry last year and expressed confidence that more would be achieved in the new year.
The highly elated elderly women, who said they were happy with the giving spirit of Comrade Ekenghuda and the sense of belonging it gave them, prayed God to guide, protect and bless him in the new year
